Kildare Now Goes Live
An all county breaking news, sport and lifestyle website has just been launched for Co. Kildare.
Kildare Now is the county’s first dedicated news website and will be the number 1 source of information for Kildare people. The site features instant local news, sport, traffic, weather and lifestyle news and features and is owned by The River Media Group who also own The Kildare Post Newspaper.
The site was officially launched by Padraig O’Dwyer, the Managing Director of River Media who said, “River Media has extensive experience in digital media and is already operating Donegal Now and Derry Now, two very successful digital news sites in the north. Derry Now and Donegal Now have experienced significant growth figures with monthly impressions now well in excess of 1,000,000. The rapid growth is a testament to the breaking news, features, design and content on the sites and this is a format that we are now rolling out in Kildare. 6 new jobs have been created with the launch of the site and we are delighted to further invest in the county and in brand Kildare.” He then went on to thank his commercial partners, advertisers and his own team for their support and for bringing the project to fruition.
Padraig himself has many years’ experience in media and has brought several new products from start-up stage to market including KFM Radio and The Kildare Post Newspaper which he cofounded and Derry Now and Donegal Now. There are six print titles within the River Media Group which operate in the counties of Derry, Donegal and Kildare. The group has an estimated 180,000 readers a week and over 50,000 ‘likes’ on Facebook.
The news team at Kildare Now is headed up by Digital Editor, Senan Hogan who has worked with several regional and national titles and news agencies including The Star newspaper and the Press Association. Senan said, “News is key for us, we will be the first point of call for Kildare people for breaking news, sport and traffic. We also know that Kildare people are interested in lifestyle topics such as travel, home and garden, motoring, food, what’s on, health, fashion and beauty. To that end, our lifestyle section will include interesting features and articles on these subjects and much, much more. It’s an exciting time for the full team here and we look forward to engaging and sharing news, features, images and video with Kildare People.
Kildare Now is a fully optimised site and is desktop, iPad and smartphone ready. The site will also provide a great platform to advertisers keen to reach the mobile savvy Kildare audience. For more information on Kildare Now see www.kildarenow.com or call (045) 408200
